As you know, on May 15th, the Lake Area and Rosemont Residents Association held its first Clean-Up Day at The Lake. I am pleased to announce that we had over 100 volunteers. These volunteers did everything from edging the pathway, to trimming back plants and shrubs. Weeding, sweeping the parking lot, bagging all of the trimmings and so much more. All contributed to a successful and productive day. It was a family affair with many kids working side by side with their parents and other workers.
The day started at 8:00 a.m. with donuts and coffee and a quick briefing on the goals for the project. Signs were posted around the Lake and the area was divided into 13 sections. Each sign outlined the work to be done in each section which kept things organized. It was a great day and an awesome sight to see the community come together. The event was over by 2:00 p.m. and approximately 2 dumpsters of plant shrubs and greenery were disposed of.
The Lake had a quick facelift and the community working together made it all possible. As a group, we did an outstanding job in about 6 hours time. It was mentioned by many of our volunteers that maybe we should do this again. Next time, the focus will be to spend more time on the Lake Blvd, Ramsgate Dr and the cove areas of the Lake. Plans are in the works, so stay tuned on the future Clean-Up Day at The Lake!
Thanks to all for caring about the community that we live in! Everyone benefits when our parks are clean and safe. This is evidence that “Working Together, We Can Make A Difference”. We did!! On June 10th, at the City Council Meeting, the City of Newark and Mayor Smith recognized and honored the members of the LARA Board of Directors and all those that participated that day. The City of Newark is thankful to all for your generosity and support that you have shown.
